We had intended to get a bus for this leg of the trip – a journey of about 3 hours – but we thought the bus might be a bit of a zoo because of the Kalaw market day (and we were still feeling the effects of our exertions on the hike ) so we decided to get a car to take us. It’s not expensive by western standards. As usual it was very easy and quick to arrange – the journey was uneventful, taking us back past the airport at Heho and then south to Nyaung Shwe which is the gateway to the Inle Lake area.
